First we would like to thank you all for giving us a great summer (so far) – we played a great set of shows, met some new friends, and got to hang out with some of our old ones.  We want to fill you in on some things that are in development for the next few weeks/months.

Shows – We still have tons of open dates.  CT, MA, NH people get at us, we havn’t played your state in a while!

Video – We just shot some new video stuff over the past few weeks.  One video is an update of sorts, and we also shot a video for Let’s Reflect.  The music video is nothing fancy, but we felt it would be a fun experience, as none of us had shot a music video before.  Thanks to Nick Somers for the hard work he has put in so far.  We can’t wait to see the finished work!

New Album – Yes.  We post about it occassionally, but a new EP is in the works.  It reflects where we are going musically and lyrically for future material.  It is not a drastic change, but we think this material is what James always wanted to write for the first record, a TRUE mix of hardcore and metal that blends in and out of melody and heaviness in each song.  The material is much more fast-paced, so it should be a different listening experience.  About 3.5 songs of 6 are being finished up, and the album should start preproduction sometime in late September and October, with a release after the new year.

Besides that news, we would like to say thanks to all of those who came out to Club Hell on Friday.  We were fortunate to share the stage with a varied collection of very talented bands: Ultrageist, Last Chance to Reason, Lie Becomes Legend, and Ruins.

Thank you so much to everyone that came to the Lupo’s show last night.  Whether you were there for us, Vanna, or one of the other bands it was an uplifting sight to see so many people supporting Providence music.  Me personally, had many moments of total awe at the amount of people tearing shit up in the pit, singing along, and just looking like they were having a good time.  We are going to announce some shows in a week or so that will keep us occupied throughout July.  I can safely say that we will be making a trip up to New Hampshire again, so all you folks up there, get ready!

As Vanna said last night: It’s you guys who keep us going, and without having friends and family and fans like you, keeping things going for 2 years would be a very difficult task.

We have 2 killer shows coming up: First one is next week with Acerose, and then the following week with Vanna and the Coming Weak.  Should be a great time.  Hit us up for your ticket.  If you buy tickets to both shows from one of us – we will hook you up with a free cd or t-shirt, your choice.

It might be a surprise to most of you, but World in Arms has a few cool endorsements and sponsorships. We would like to take this time to highlight one of our longest-running friendships in Prestigious clothing.  Our friend William from Prestigious Clothing, located in Massachusetts, is one of the hardest-working and passionate people we have ever had the pleasure of knowing.

His brand embodies the spirit of the underground: Honest and filled with passion.  To me, the underground music scene is about being able to express who you are and what you believe in, to match message with a medium, whether that be music, art, film, etc.  We feel that Prestigious clothing was a perfect fit for us in that regard.  (Literally too, these t shirts are comfy as hell).

Besides giving William and Prestigious props, I also wanted to note that World in Arms is very selective about who we partner with.  We care about how we present ourselves, and how we are represented through other people.  Any company that we are affiliated with is one that is worth checking out, for a multitude of reasons.

To put it bluntly – we don’t say yes to any shitty random company for the sake of having our name put on more stuff.

We have decided to stream our CD for free on Myspace forever.  Why would we do something like this? Seeing how a couple of us are old dudes, and have been in hardcore and metal for a long time, we have noticed an interesting change: Underground music has lost its sense of pride and purpose.

When I started World in Arms I had a few key principles:  Put your heart into your music,  don’t follow trends and follow yourself, and make sure everything we do has a purpose and meaning.  Now, I am sure people will argue with me about that statement – and whether WIA is accurate in that.  But this is what I envisioned.  I wanted to deliver our music as cheaply as possible, with no profit.

All of the music the band has created comes from various events in our lives that have prompted some kind of emotion, that we have channeled into the creation of some form of music.  I have never written a song to “bring the mosh”.  Everything on our current album has come from the results of me coping with the loss of family members during my instrumental writing process.  I could even go on and describe what riff corresponds to the event or emotion i was feeling at that point in my life.

Lyrically, we convey a message of hope, introspection, and personal growth.  My goal is that when you listen to World in Arms, you feel something inside your head or heart, that connects you to some point in YOUR life.  We don’t care about getting signed to some massive label, touring the world, or getting 200,000 plays a day.  We just want our band to create honest music, and to make an attempt to connect with our listeners.

Anyways – I hope that after you read this, you understand a little more about who we are, and maybe that makes you hate us, or love us.  The bottom line is that we appreciate the time you spent checking our music out, going to shows, or just simply saying hi.  And also, if you ever see any of us – please talk to us! We really enjoy meeting new people and talking about whatever!

Now, with the album being streamed we hope that you decide to buy a cd, but if not, thats cool too.  At least we have an avenue to allow you to make that decision for yourself, to see the time and energy we put into it, rather than hiding our music and forcing you to pay $ for something you might not like.
